Muttaqi discussed with a Chinese government official about the extraction of copper minerals
Bayan News – Muttaqi, the Taliban’s acting Foreign Minister, held talks with Chinese government officials about the extraction of the Aynak copper mine.
Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban, met and held discussions with Li Kun, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of China.
Zia Ahmad Takal, the Deputy Spokesperson of the ministry, wrote on the X platform on Friday (July 26) that the two sides discussed the extraction of the Aynak copper mine, the protection of historical artifacts, and the expansion of cultural relations between the two countries.
The acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban also described the Wakhan Corridor as the connecting point between Afghanistan and China during the meeting, emphasizing that this corridor is a priority for Afghanistan.
The ministry quoted Li Kun as saying that the Aynak copper mine is an example of cultural exchange between Afghanistan and China.
After coming to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban have expanded their political, economic, and cultural relations with the Chinese government.
Although China has not yet recognized the Taliban, it has placed the Afghan embassy in Beijing under the control of the Taliban.
