Taliban’s Sympathy for the People of Palestine; If We Had a Border with Israel, We Would Go to War
Bayan News – Maulvi Abdul Kabir, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister who recently visited Iran, addressed the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and explicitly stated that if Afghanistan shared a border with Israel, the Taliban would go to war in support of the Palestinian people.
This Taliban political figure, at the head of a delegation, had traveled to Tehran to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Massoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran. Maulvi Abdul Kabir went from Tehran to Doha, the capital of Qatar, to attend the funeral of Haniyeh.
Concurrently with the presence of this Taliban political figure, Anas Haqqani, the brother of Sirajuddin Haqqani, also went to Doha to participate in this ceremony and met with senior members of the Hamas group on the sidelines of the event.
The news website Khabar Online, which covers news related to Iran, reported on Friday (August 2) citing the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister: “Afghanistan, in solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran, supports the oppressed people of Gaza; perhaps if we had a common border with the occupying regime, we would have gone to war in defense of Gaza.”
On the other hand, the Taliban’s Arga has published images of Maulvi Abdul Kabir’s participation in the funeral of Ismail Haniyeh, showing this Taliban official in conversation with members of the Hamas group.
The Arga quoted the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister as saying that Ismail Haniyeh fought until the last breath of his life against Israel for the liberation of Palestine.
This Taliban political figure emphasized that the current government of Afghanistan stands alongside Hamas and in support of the Palestinian people.
Nevertheless, the Taliban have always considered Israel an occupying regime and condemned its attacks on the Gaza Strip, and at the same time have called on Islamic countries to take action to alleviate the crisis and support the Palestinian people.
