Blinken: We’ve sent messages to Iran and Israel that escalating tensions is unnecessary

Bayan News – On Wednesday (August 7), US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that Washington has conveyed a message to the authorities in Israel and Iran that escalating tensions in the region is unnecessary.

Blinken, speaking at a meeting attended by the US Secretary of Defense and their Australian counterparts, said: “We have engaged in focused diplomacy with allies and partners, and conveyed this message directly to Iran and Israel.”

The US Secretary of State, while emphasizing Washington’s continued defense of Israel against attacks, referred to the need for all parties in the region to understand the risk of escalating tensions and making miscalculations.

Gaza ceasefire negotiations

Blinken, referring to the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, added: “Carrying out more attacks will only increase the risk of serious consequences that no one can fully predict or control.”

On the other hand, Blinken noted that the negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the release of hostages have reached the final stage and should be concluded in the very near future.
