Iran Police Commander: Illegal Afghan Migrants Must Return to Their Country by the End of the Year

Bayan News – Concurrent with the peak of forced expulsion of Afghan migrants by Iran, Ahmad Reza Radan, the Police Commander of the country, has asked migrants without documents to return to their country by the end of the current year.

The term “nationals” used by the Islamic Republic of Iran authorities refers to Afghan migrants.

This Iranian official has asked Afghan migrants to leave Iran by the end of the year.

He made the remarks on Wednesday (August 7) on the sidelines of the Arbaeen military drill in an interview with the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The Iranian Police Commander has referred to the issue of foreign nationals in the Arbaeen pilgrimage and said that exit permits and “Khadim” booklets are not issued to foreign nationals at border crossings.

Stating that foreign nationals are only allowed to exit and enter through the Chazabeh border for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, he said: “Regarding illegal nationals, given that the policy and programs are based on the return of all illegal nationals, these dear ones must leave the country and return to their own country by the end of the year.”

These remarks come as in recent days, the level of mistreatment and violence by Iranian citizens and police officers towards Afghan migrants has intensified.

Recently, a video has been circulated on social media showing Iranian plain-clothes police officers assaulting an Afghan migrant.
