Clinton calls for the world to stand against the Taliban’s law of virtue promotion

Bayan News – Hillary Clinton, former U.S. Secretary of State, has urged the global community to stand against the Taliban’s “anti-women” policies.

This former U.S. official expressed strong reaction last night (August 28) on platform X, adding that the Taliban consider women’s speaking outside the home a crime.

Clinton wrote: “Do you want to see how far fundamentalism can go?” She further stated that the world must take a clear and firm stance against the Taliban’s policies.

The “anti-women” law

Meanwhile, the United Nations Women’s section has also reacted to the promulgation of this law, demanding that the Taliban immediately repeal their “anti-women” law.

This agency stated on Wednesday (September 7) in a statement that the new Taliban law of virtue promotion completely excludes women from public life.

The UN Women’s section emphasized with concern that the new Taliban law intensifies existing restrictions on women’s personal lives.

According to this organization, the Taliban have issued more than 70 restrictive decrees on the lives and work of women in the past three years, resulting in a gross violation of their human rights.

The UN Women’s section has stated that these restrictions have a detrimental impact on the lives of women in Afghanistan. It is worth noting that the Taliban’s law of virtue promotion, which was announced by their leader last week, has sparked widespread international reactions.

However, the Taliban have described these reactions as disrespectful to Sharia. Recently, a Taliban political official, during a meeting with the head of the political section of UNAMA in Kabul, stated that all laws in Afghanistan are based on religion.
