Insecurity in Pakistan; Islamabad pays the cost of “that cup of tea” in Afghanistan

Bayan News – Following the rise in insecurity in Pakistan, Eshaq Dar, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, states that the increase in armed and terrorist attacks in the country is a result of the mistakes made by Imran Khan’s government.

According to Pakistani media, the foreign minister referred to the presence of Faiz Hamid, the former head of the country’s intelligence, in Kabul during the early days of the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, adding: “The country is paying the price for that cup of tea in Afghanistan.”

He also mentioned that it is unlikely this trip occurred without the permission of Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, who is currently in prison.

In the early days of the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan, Faiz Hamid traveled to Kabul, and a photo of him drinking tea at the Serena Hotel was published.

According to a report from the Dawn newspaper, in a video released of Faiz Hamid, he responded to a journalist by saying, “Everything will be fine.”

However, despite this, security in Pakistan has not improved after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan; rather, insecurity and terrorist attacks in the country have significantly increased.

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan has also criticized the release of militants by Faiz Hamid and the Imran Khan government.

He stated, “Those who were released at that time were the masterminds of terrorism in Balochistan.”

The publication of this photo sparked widespread reactions, and many analysts viewed it as a sign of the deep influence of Pakistan’s intelligence over the Taliban.

The Pakistani government currently considers the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan to be responsible for many attacks against the army and civilians in the country.

Pakistani officials claim that the Tehrik-i-Taliban has a presence in Afghanistan and plans and executes its attacks using Afghan territory.
