Bayan News – Abdul Rashid Dostum, the leader of the Islamic Movement Party of Afghanistan, has called on all Taliban opponents to establish a parallel government to the Taliban.
Mr. Dostum, speaking in a virtual meeting of the National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan on Sunday evening (September 15), added that the leader of this government should be someone who can respond to Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban.
The National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan held a meeting via Zoom yesterday evening.
Mr. Dostum, who is also a senior member of this council, emphasized that the Taliban have taken control of Afghanistan through a “deal,” and their rule is short-lived.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Younus Qanuni, one of the leaders of the Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, also referred to Mr. Dostum’s comments in this meeting, stating that the proposal to form an “overseas government” is currently being discussed in most international circles.
Mr. Qanuni said that the introduction of this discussion indicates a shift of countries from “tactical engagement” with the Taliban to “strategic confrontation” with this group.
He emphasized, “The Taliban are doomed to failure and decline. Neither their Taliban ideology is acceptable to our people nor to the world.”
Qanuni added that the “ideology dominating Afghanistan” does not convey a message of peace and peaceful coexistence to the world and threatens global and regional security; therefore, sooner or later, the Taliban are doomed to fail.
