Taliban Appoint High-Level Delegation to Investigate Killing of Afghan Migrants at Iranian Border
Bayan News – Hamdullah Fitrat, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Taliban government, announced on Thursday (October 17) that a high-level delegation has been appointed to investigate the killing of Afghan migrants at the Iranian border.
The Taliban official wrote on the platform X that Sadr Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Interior, will lead this delegation, which also includes representatives from the Ministries of Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Borders, and Intelligence.
Hamdullah Fitrat stated in a press release that the Taliban’s Office of the Prime Minister has instructed the delegation to provide the results of their investigation into the killing of Afghan migrants at the Iranian border as soon as possible.
It is reported that on Monday of this week, Iranian border guards opened fire on migrants in the “Kelgan” area of Saravan, in Sistan and Baluchistan province.
Unofficial reports suggest that around 260 Afghan migrants, including women and children, were killed in this shooting.
Although Iranian officials have denied that their border guards were involved in the incident and called it untrue, it has been confirmed that the event took place, and the bodies have been transferred to Herat province.
