U.S. Election; Kamala Harris Accepts Defeat
Bayan News – Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s candidate in the U.S. presidential election, announced that she has spoken with Donald Trump and accepted her defeat.
Harris made these remarks early Thursday morning (November 7) before her supporters at Harvard University, saying, “A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results.
This principle is as crucial as any other in distinguishing democracy from monarchy and tyranny, and anyone seeking public trust must respect it.”
However, Harris emphasized that she will continue her fight for democracy, the rule of law, and justice. She added, “Do not be discouraged. Now is not the time to raise our hands in defeat; it’s the time to roll up our sleeves. It’s the time for organizing, mobilizing, and staying engaged for freedom and justice, for the future we know we can build together.”
In her speech, Harris expressed gratitude to her family, President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, her running mate Tim Walz, her campaign staff, and her supporters.
She stated, “The outcome of this election wasn’t what we wanted, wasn’t what we fought for, wasn’t what we voted for; but as long as we don’t give up and keep fighting, America’s light will always remain bright.”
Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, lost to her opponent Donald Trump, securing 226 electoral votes.
