Taliban Minister: Iran Should Halt Forced Deportation of Afghan Migrants
Bayan News – Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the Taliban’s interim Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, called for an end to the forced deportation of Afghan migrants in a meeting with an Iranian delegation in Kabul.
On Thursday (November 14), this Taliban official met with the Iranian delegation, which had recently arrived in Kabul to discuss a potential prisoner exchange.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Refugees, both parties discussed establishing a joint mechanism to address migrant issues.
The statement noted that topics such as preventing deportations, ensuring fair treatment of Afghans, and addressing migrant challenges were among the issues discussed between the Minister of Refugees and the Iranian delegation.
Additionally, the Iranian delegation stated that by the end of this year, approximately two million undocumented Afghan migrants would be expelled from Iran.
However, according to published reports, the Islamic Republic has already deported over 750,000 Afghan migrants since the beginning of this year.
