U.S. Diplomat: The Ban on Girls’ Education Denies Them Participation in Afghanistan’s Future
Bayan News – Karen Decker, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan, once again strongly criticized the ban on the education of women and girls imposed by the Taliban interim government.
On November 20th, she wrote on the X platform that the restrictions placed by the interim government on the education of women and girls deprive them of participating in Afghanistan’s future.
This U.S. diplomat emphasized the United States’ commitment to the right to equal access to education during International Education Week.
Decker stated that Afghanistan cannot achieve progress and development without the active participation of all its people.
Meanwhile, since returning to power, the interim government has excluded women and girls from public life, including work and education.
Despite international pressure, the interim government has shown no regard for national and international demands.
Furthermore, officials of the current Kabul government consider issues related to Afghan women and girls as domestic matters and have consistently requested that other countries refrain from intervening in these issues.
