The World Food Programme Announces Distribution of Cash Aid to Over Ten Million People in Afghanistan
Bayan News – The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that it has distributed cash and food assistance to 10.5 million people across Afghanistan this year.
On Saturday morning (November 30), the organization stated on the platform X that this aid has helped nourish children, strengthen the local economy, and empower communities.
According to the WFP, the cash and food assistance have been provided with financial support from the governments of Germany and Sweden.
It is worth noting that the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says that more than 23 million people in Afghanistan are in need of aid.
This year, OCHA requested a budget of $3.06 billion to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan population. However, according to OCHA, only a small portion of this budget has been funded.
