Bayan News – Recent reports of the siege of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s home and office, the leader of the Islamic Party, are circulating on social media, indicating that Hekmatyar has allegedly built a residence and party office on government grounds since his arrival in Kabul.
Residents of Kabul reported on Monday (March 24) that Mr. Hekmatyar’s house has been surrounded by the Taliban’s Ministry of Justice, and he has been expelled from his home and party office.
It is said that the Taliban have accused him of forcibly occupying government land, but Hekmatyar has presented reasons that he had resided on these grounds based on an agreement from the previous peace government.
According to published reports, the evacuation order of Hekmatyar’s residence was issued by Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, and the Ministry of Justice has carried out this order.
According to sources speaking to the media in Afghanistan, Hekmatyar has been living on government land belonging to the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan during this time.
Taliban does not accept Hekmatyar and Ashraf Ghani’s peace agreement
On the other hand, Habib Rahman Hekmatyar, the son of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, denies reports of the siege of his father’s home and states that the leader of the Islamic Party has changed his place of residence.
He wrote on Platform X that after several months of negotiation with the Taliban, the result was that the peace agreement of the previous Afghan government under Ashraf Ghani was not acceptable to the Taliban.
Hekmatyar’s son continues to write that the Darul Aman residence in Kabul was the only remaining issue from the previous Afghan government’s agreement for Hekmatyar.
According to reports, the Taliban leader issued an order two years ago to reclaim government lands that had been forcibly seized by strongmen, and furthermore, there is a commission in this regard led by Abdul Hakim Sharie, the Taliban’s Minister of Justice.
Over the past two years, this commission has been working on recovering government lands that had been seized in Kabul’s Darul Aman, and it is said that the disagreements between Hekmatyar and the Taliban stem from this. Additionally, Hekmatyar has been present in Kabul since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan and has occasionally criticized the behavior and policies of the Taliban leadership in his Friday prayers.
