The second phase of the fourth segment of the Khawaf-Herat railway will be constructed at a cost of $53 million
Bayan News – The Taliban’s Economic Deputy announced that the contract for the second phase of the fourth segment of the Khawaf-Herat railway was signed with the company “Gama Group” on Friday (March 28).
According to the newsletter of this department, the second phase of the fourth segment of the Khawaf-Herat railway will be constructed at a cost of $53 million.
According to the newsletter, the second phase of this railway is 47 kilometers long and is expected to be completed and put into operation in two years.
According to the Taliban’s Economic Deputy, with the completion of this project, Afghanistan will be connected to important Iranian seaports and Europe via the railway network in Turkey.
The Taliban’s Economic Deputy stated, “Furthermore, by crossing Afghan soil, it also provides the opportunity to increase the level of commercial property transfer between Central and South Asia.”
Taliban officials have stated that with the construction of the second phase of the fourth segment of the Khawaf-Herat railway, the possibility of extending the railway network to the provinces of Farah, Nimruz, Helmand, and Kandahar will also be facilitated.
