Islamic Jurisprudence Council of the World Islamic Union: Do Not Deprive Girls of Education

Bayan News – The Islamic Jurisprudence Council of the World Islamic Union emphasized the importance of education for girls worldwide in a statement issued on Friday, April 26th.

The Islamic Jurisprudence Council of the World Islamic Union convened today in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and in this session, the empowerment of women to acquire knowledge in various fields was emphasized.

The council’s statement reads: “This council recommends that countries and Muslims worldwide allow women to acquire useful knowledge in various fields and not deprive them of this matter.”

The council also advocates for the education and employment of women to serve in effective communities and states that women and men, except in exceptional cases, are equal by their nature.

This comes at a time when the Taliban has banned the education and schooling of women and girls for the past three years.

Most Islamic countries have urged the Taliban to reopen schools and universities for the education of girls so that they can receive education in a safe and protected environment.
