The Eighth Sawar; What message did the Taliban and its political opponents give to the people?

Bayan News – The interim government authorities of the Taliban and the political opponents of the current system in Kabul have delivered a message on the occasion of the eighth Sawar, which coincides with the withdrawal of the former Soviet forces from Afghanistan, and have taken a stance on the current political situation.

Thirty-two years ago today, the Afghan mujahideen finally overthrew the former communist regime in 1371 after fourteen years of battle against the Soviet-backed government.

However, even after the victory of the mujahideen, Afghanistan continues to be in crisis, and the people of this country have been victims of various events over the past 30 years.

This occasion comes at a time when the Taliban has been in control of Afghanistan for three years. On Saturday (April 27), the Taliban stated in a declaration that they condemn the communist coup of the 7th Sawar and this dark day, and they honor the eighth Sawar as the day of the country’s freedom.

The Taliban’s statement reads: “We are grateful that our country was freed from another occupation after twenty years of jihad and an Islamic system was established. Therefore, the Islamic Emirate is making every effort to ensure that the sacrifices and struggles of our nation are not wasted again, and to realize the Islamic system and provide better conditions under the shadow of the Islamic system for the prosperity and welfare of Afghanistan.”

Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Migrants, said at the ceremony commemorating the eighth Sawar that the Afghans should be grateful for the Islamic system and work together for its unity and survival.

The Taliban official emphasized that the people of Afghanistan united to defeat the occupation, and they will also work together for prosperity and other parts of the country. He mentioned the victims of events in Afghanistan, noting that during the period of jihad, women and children suffered the most.

However, the political opponents of the Taliban also called the control of the Taliban in Afghanistan worrisome, and in their statement, they urged other political movements to mobilize against the Taliban. The Resistance Council argues that the Taliban do not believe in dialogue to solve Afghanistan’s problems and calls on all political factions, the government, and civil society to take action to fight against the Taliban.

Abdul Rashid Dostum, Hajji Mohammad Mohaqiq, Atta Mohammad Noor, and Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf are senior leaders of the National Resistance Front for the Salvation of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that John Bass, the US Deputy Secretary of State, has traveled to Qatar and Pakistan for discussions about Afghanistan.
