Atmar to Taliban: Human rights organizations should take action to protect the people of Badakhshan
Bayan News – Hanif Atmar, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, is calling on the Taliban to support the desires and will of the inhabitants of Badakhshan province.
In a post on the X platform on Sunday (May 5th), he wrote that the people of Afghanistan and the international community should closely monitor and investigate the situation of the inhabitants of Badakhshan.
This former Afghan government official continues to request that human rights organizations and UNAMA take immediate action to protect the inhabitants of Badakhshan.
Atmar added, “Our nation considers any mistreatment, violence, and oppression against the people of Badakhshan as an injustice against all Afghans and condemns it.”
Over the past three days, the residents of the districts of Darayim, Argu, and Jorm in Badakhshan province have staged protests against the abuses by Taliban forces.
These protests have escalated after Taliban forces killed a young individual from Badakhshan in the Darayim district.
