Taliban Begins Salt Mine Extraction in Faryab Province

Bayan News – The Taliban’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has officially begun the extraction of salt mines in Faryab province.

Hamayoun Afghan, a spokesperson for the ministry, told the media that the inauguration ceremony for the extraction of these mines was held on Saturday (August 3) in Faryab province in northern Afghanistan.

According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, these mines cover an area of 14 square kilometers and have been contracted for 15 years with an Afghan company at a value of $24 million.

Hamayoun Afghan stated that Afghanistan needs 300,000 tons of salt annually, and the extraction of these salt mines will meet the country’s needs.

Officials of the contracted salt mine company in Faryab said that they are extracting 2,500 tons of salt per day from these mines.

The start of salt extraction in Faryab has provided jobs for more than 500 people.
