46 Afghan Migrants Arrested by Tehran Police

Bayan News – Iranian media reported, citing the Commander of Shahr-e Rey, Tehran, that 46 Afghan migrants were arrested over the past two days.

Ali Reza Fatehnejad, the Commander of Shahr-e Rey, Tehran, said on Wednesday (August 7) in an interview with Mehr News Agency that these migrants were arrested as part of an intensive plan to round up illegal migrants.

The Iranian official emphasized that under this plan, all migrants without documents will be arrested and repatriated to their home countries.

The Commander of Shahr-e Rey added that the arrested migrants have been transferred to the Askari Abad camp.

Fatehnejad has described the presence of migrants in Iran as a major challenge, and added that the Afghans will be deported without exception.

Previously, the Tehran Police Commander had also asked illegal foreign nationals to leave Iran by the end of the current year.
