Taliban Whip a Woman in Kandahar

Bayan News – The Supreme Court of the Taliban has announced that a woman was publicly lashed for allegedly “fleeing her home”.

The court issued a statement on Thursday (August 8) stating that the lashing sentence for this woman was carried out by the criminal appeals court of Kandahar.

Most public punishments are for charges such as fleeing the home, theft, and extramarital relations.

The Taliban has expanded public punishments across Afghanistan over the past year, a move that has drawn international reactions.

The United Nations, human rights organizations, and world governments have urged the Taliban to halt public punishments of the accused.
