Zubaida Akbar has been recognized as the winner of the International Action Network for “Gender Equality” award

Bayan News – The International Action Network for Gender Equality, based in the UK, announced that Zubaida Akbar, a human rights activist from Afghanistan, has been awarded the 2024 prize.

This human rights organization stated on Friday (August 9) that Zubaida Akbar from Afghanistan and Hafida Chikir, a women’s human rights activist from Tunisia, have been recognized as the winners of this year’s “Rights and Leadership” award.

According to this human rights network, Ms. Akbar and Chikir were selected as two exceptional advocates from a pool of nominees for this award.

The statement from the International Action Network for Gender Equality reads: “Zubaida Akbar is a prominent women’s rights and civil society activist from Afghanistan who tirelessly works to defend human rights, the rights of Afghan women and girls, and marginalized communities in Afghanistan.”

However, last year, Zala Ahmad, a women’s rights activist from Afghanistan, was recognized with an award by this network.
