Three years of Taliban rule; the extent of poverty has drastically increased

Bayan News – As the third anniversary of the Taliban’s rule over Afghanistan approaches, a group of humanitarian aid organizations states that most people in Afghanistan are dependent on humanitarian assistance.

On Tuesday (August 13), this group issued a joint statement saying that humanitarian aid in Afghanistan has sharply declined, leading to the expansion of the cycle of poverty, migration, and hopelessness among the population.

The statement was released by the Norwegian Refugee Council, Save the Children, the International Rescue Committee, and several other aid organizations.

The statement emphasizes that with the collapse of the republican system, millions of Afghans are trapped in one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world.

According to the statement, currently, over 23 million people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian assistance, with 25 percent of them being children and 25 percent being women.

However, following the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan, the level of foreign aid has sharply decreased, and many aid organizations have halted their services.

Nevertheless, Taliban officials have consistently denied these reports over the past three years, claiming that political and economic stability has been achieved in Afghanistan and that large economic projects have created employment for the people.
