Biden to Israeli Prime Minister: We must finalize the ceasefire in Gaza

Bayan News – US President Joe Biden says he has spoken on the phone with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, about finalizing the agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages.

Biden raised this issue on Thursday evening (August 21) on the X platform, saying: “I have made it clear once again that we must finalize the ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages.”

He stated that he had discussed with the Prime Minister of Israel the removal of the remaining obstacles in the Cairo negotiations.

Biden again emphasized Washington’s support for Tel Aviv against a potential attack by Iran on Israel and its proxy groups.

Despite efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, tensions in the region have increased.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had also two days ago called on the parties involved in Gaza to make the most of the final opportunity for a ceasefire agreement.

Blinken, after his trip to Israel and meeting with officials of this country, said that Tel Aviv has accepted the Washington-backed ceasefire proposal in Gaza.

The Hamas movement and other Palestinian groups are also calling for the implementation of Biden’s proposal to implement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
