The UN Security Council is holding a meeting on Afghanistan

Bayan News – It has been reported that the UN Security Council will hold a meeting concerning Afghanistan this month.

According to published reports, this meeting will take place in September; however, the exact date of the meeting has not been specified.

It is said that Rosa Otunbayeva, the head of UNAMA, and Sima Bahous, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, will provide explanations regarding the current situation, particularly concerning women in Afghanistan.

This meeting comes at a time when the Taliban government has recently promulgated and implemented the law on promoting virtue and preventing vice.

This law, which has triggered widespread international reactions, has focused attention on Afghan women. The Taliban’s law on promoting virtue consists of one chapter, an introduction, and 35 articles.
