United Nations: ISIS has called on its fighters in Afghanistan to attack other countries

Bayan News – A recent report by Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, presented to the Security Council, warns about the transnational threats posed by the ISIS-K branch in Afghanistan.

In the report released on Wednesday (September 4), officials from several member countries are cited, stating that ISIS has ordered its fighters to organize attacks from Afghanistan to other countries.

The report describes Afghanistan as a dangerous base for ISIS-K to launch attacks against Europe and neighboring countries.

According to the report: “Following the terrorist attacks in Kerman, Iran, on January 3, and in Moscow on March 22, the terrorist threat from various groups based in Afghanistan has heightened concerns among member countries.”

The report further adds: “Reports from member countries indicate that ISIS has directed its operatives in Afghanistan and neighboring countries to carry out attacks abroad and is exploiting Afghan and Central Asian migrant communities for logistical, financial, and operational support.”

Based on the Secretary-General’s report, despite the destruction of several ISIS-K cells in Europe, logistical and financial support remains available for operatives coming from Afghanistan and Central Asia to Europe.

The report states that ISIS-K is seeking to attract Afghan migrants in Europe.

Meanwhile, the Technical Committee on Sanctions of the UN Security Council has warned in its thirty-fourth report about the cooperation among ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and the Pakistani Taliban.

This technical committee has analyzed and predicted that in the coming year, Europe will face more complex plots from ISIS, which has led to serious concerns among European and non-European countries regarding the terrorist threat from Afghanistan.

At the same time, the report indicates that ISIS is also focusing on expanding its presence in Africa, demonstrating its influence through bloody attacks against civilians on the continent.

This is not the first time the United Nations and its members have warned about the threat of ISIS and other terrorist groups in Afghanistan. However, the Taliban has described these warnings as an exaggeration of the ISIS threat.
