European Union: We will not tolerate the Taliban’s morality law

Bayan News – The European Union stated on Monday (September 9) in a statement that the Taliban’s morality law is another blow to the women and girls of Afghanistan.

The Union added that the new Taliban morality law is a “serious blow” to the rights of Afghan women and girls, and it cannot tolerate it.

According to the European Union, the new Taliban law confirms severe restrictions on the lives of the Afghan people and also expands further limitations.

The statement from the European Union reads: “We will be vigilant against the weakening of human rights and democratic principles, especially in areas where authoritarian regimes threaten these universal values.”

In light of the implementation of the Taliban’s morality law in Afghanistan, the European Union has called for the extension of the mandate of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Afghanistan.

According to the statement from the European Union: “This is why we are proposing a resolution in this session to extend the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Afghanistan.”

The Union stated that the conditions created by the Taliban in Afghanistan, particularly the severe restrictions imposed on the education and work of Afghan women and girls, require “full attention” from the United Nations Human Rights Council.

It is worth noting that the promulgation of the morality law by the Taliban leader has sparked widespread international reactions, with many countries and international organizations opposing this law.

This law, which has been promulgated with one chapter, an introduction, and 35 articles, further affects the women of Afghanistan.
