Bayan News – Local sources in Daikundi say that armed individuals executed 13 Shiites in the border area between Daikundi and Ghor provinces in Afghanistan.

Seyed Taqi Alavi-Bandar, a Shiite scholar from Daikundi, told a Bayan News reporter that in this incident, 13 Shiites were killed, including two pilgrims to Karbala who were married, and four others were injured.

The incident occurred around 1:30 PM on Thursday (September 12).

According to information obtained by the Bayan News reporter, the victims of this incident were from the “Sangtakht and Bandar” district of Daikundi province, and they had gone to welcome two pilgrims to the holy Karbala in the border area with Ghor province.

According to the account of a Shiite scholar in Daikundi, about 17 Shiites who are residents of the “Qurudar” village in the “Sangtakht and Bandar” district were waiting on a hill in the border area with Ghor province for the arrival of two Karbala pilgrims when four armed men on motorcycles initially introduced themselves as Taliban forces.

Although several hours have passed since this armed incident, local and central authorities of the Taliban government have not provided the necessary information.

On the other hand, according to obtained information, the Shiites who were attacked in the border area of Daikundi and Ghor provinces belong to the Aimak ethnic group, which has historically been in conflict with Shiites and considers visiting the shrine of Karbala an act of polytheism.
