Tajikistani and Pakistani Officials Discuss Afghanistan

Bayan News – On Friday, September 20, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Khawaja Asif, the country’s Minister of Defense, held talks with Yusuf Sharifzoda, Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Islamabad, regarding Afghanistan.

According to the statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aviation security and military-technical cooperation between the two countries were key topics of the discussion.

Pakistani and Tajikistani officials have said that the situation in Afghanistan has a direct impact on the security of the region.

Meanwhile, other Central Asian countries maintain good relations with the Taliban, but Tajikistan’s relations with the Taliban have not yet fully developed. At the same time, relations between the Taliban in Afghanistan and the government of Pakistan have also deteriorated.

Experts have expressed that Tajikistan and Pakistan now share a similar approach regarding Afghanistan, and high-ranking officials from both countries have been critical of the Taliban’s actions in international meetings and conferences.
