As the humanitarian crisis spreads in Afghanistan, the World Food Program (WFP) has expressed concern that 18 million people in the country are in urgent need of food this month.
The director of the World Food Program, David Beazley, tweeted on Tuesday night that the organization could only help 10 million people.
He went on to write that the price of fuel, food and transportation is still rising.
“Right now we are getting food from the hungry to feed the other hungry,” he said.
He added that more than $ 1 billion is needed to distribute food to the hungry.
In the last nine months, the rate of poverty and hunger in Afghanistan has risen to an all-time high. According to statistics, in recent months, more than 20 million people in the country do not have access to adequate food.
