Taliban Arrests Jawid Kohistani, Prominent Military Analyst of Afghanistan
Bayan News – Sources in Kabul report that Jawid Kohistani, a prominent political and military analyst in Afghanistan, was arrested in Kabul on the afternoon of yesterday (September 26).
One source told Afghan media that Mr. Kohistani was detained from the Sarai Naw area in the 17th district of Kabul.
It is said that Kohistani was arrested by intelligence forces, but the reason for his arrest remains unclear.
Officials from the Taliban central government have not commented on the matter.
Sources have also stated that Kohistani’s family has not heard anything about his fate so far.
Additionally, another source confirmed Kohistani’s arrest, noting that he had been under the guarantee of Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy prime minister of the Taliban in Kabul.
However, the detention of political experts by the Taliban is not new; in the past three years, several experts and university professors have been arrested for criticizing the governance of the Taliban.
