Iran Executes Eight Prisoners, Including Two Afghan Nationals
Bayan News – The Iranian Human Rights Organization reported on Friday (October 4) that eight prisoners, including two Afghan nationals, have been executed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The organization stated in a press release that these individuals were executed in the “Qezel Hessar” prison in Karaj, the capital of Alborz province in Iran, also noting that a woman was among those executed.
According to the Iranian human rights organization, these prisoners were executed last Wednesday on charges of robbery with violence and intentional murder.
The identities of the Afghan nationals and the executed woman have not yet been revealed.
Previously, the Iranian Human Rights Organization had warned about the transfer of nine prisoners for the execution of their sentences.
Another prisoner, who had been sentenced to death for intentional murder, returned to his cell after receiving a new postponement.
On the other hand, Iranian media also reported the execution of one woman and five men, although the reasons for these executions have not been specified.
The report mentioned that the executed woman had collaborated with a man in the murder of her husband about nine years ago.
According to this statement, Iran executed at least 15 individuals last year on charges of robbery with violence.
This comes at a time when the number of executions of Afghan prisoners in the Islamic Republic has increased in recent months.
It was recently reported that around 11 Afghan nationals had been executed in Iranian prisons over the course of a month on charges of murder and drug trafficking.
