Cash Assistance Distributed to Four Million People in Afghanistan by the World Food Programme

Bayan News – The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that over the past year, it has distributed cash assistance to four million people in Afghanistan.

This UN-affiliated organization added on Sunday (October 6) that half of the cash assistance recipients are women.

According to the World Food Programme, cash assistance empowers those in need to spend on what their families require and to meet their basic needs.

However, the World Food Programme did not specify the amount of cash assistance provided to those in need.

Nevertheless, some UN agencies have stated that more than 23 million people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian assistance.

According to published reports, over three billion dollars have been requested this year for humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan, but only 20 percent of that budget has been secured so far.
