A Taliban Official: We Have Lost Millions of Educated Youth

Bayan News – Abdul Qayum Ruhani, the Taliban governor of Khost province, has stated that Afghanistan has lost millions of educated youth over four decades of crisis.

Speaking at a ceremony at “Sheikh Zayed” University in Khost province yesterday (October 19), he said that Afghanistan currently needs doctors, engineers, economists, and specialists.

The Taliban’s Minister of Higher Education was also present at the event where Ruhani gave his speech.

The Taliban official urged Afghan youth to equip themselves with both religious and modern knowledge so that Afghanistan can free itself from dependence on others and achieve self-sufficiency.

Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Minister of Higher Education also stated at the meeting that the main reason for the world’s progress and development is education and knowledge.

The Minister, who has banned women from attending universities, added that millions of Afghanis are spent annually to educate the youth and contribute to the progress of Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s meeting at this university was held without journalists recording the event.

Taliban officials speak about Afghanistan’s need for education and educated youth, while keeping universities and schools above grade six closed to girls.
