Qatar Announces “Fourth Round of Doha Talks” Hosted by the UN

Bayan News – On Wednesday (October 30), Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Qatar’s representative to the UN, held discussions with the UN Deputy Secretary-General regarding the “Fourth Round of the Doha Talks.”

However, the ministry’s statement did not specify the date of the meeting nor provide additional details.

According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Doha’s representative met with the UN Deputy Secretary-General in New York to discuss the upcoming event.

The statement noted that Ms. DiCarlo and Qatar’s permanent representative to the UN highlighted the importance of building on the achievements of the Third Doha Meeting in this fourth round.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry stressed that during the meeting, the representatives referenced the need to leverage the positive momentum generated in the Third Doha Talks on Afghanistan, aiming to expand this in the upcoming fourth round, set to be held in Doha.

The Third Doha Meeting took place earlier this year, with representatives from 25 countries and international organizations attending, including a delegation from the Taliban. Rosemary DiCarlo, who chaired the third round, acknowledged being fully aware of the criticisms directed at the Third Doha Meeting.
