Iranian Presidential Aide: Treatment of Afghan Migrants is “Unjustifiable”

Bayan News – Ali Rabiei, assistant to the President of Iran, has stated that the treatment of Afghan migrants in the country is shameful and unjustifiable.

On Wednesday (October 30), Rabiei shared a video on a social media platform showing mistreatment of Afghan migrants, calling it disgraceful and “racist.”

The Iranian presidential aide wrote, “Racist acts against migrants are unjustifiable and incompatible with Iranian culture and spirit.” He continued, “Just as we feel pain when witnessing the suffering of an Iranian girl, the sight of Afghan girls being slapped should equally cause us pain and regret.”

According to him, “The issue of refugees must be addressed and resolved through logical, planned, and policy-driven frameworks.”

Rabiei is one of the few Iranian officials to publicly respond to and oppose mistreatment of Afghan migrants.

In recent months, several Afghan migrants in various Iranian cities have been subjected to humiliation and abuse by both locals and security forces, with some even facing torture and deportation from Iran.
