Taliban Official to Countries: If You Want to Eradicate Poverty, Start with Afghanistan
Bayan News – Some Taliban officials have urged the international community to increase aid to Afghanistan to reduce poverty and create jobs in the country. Recently, several Taliban representatives attended the “Hunan” conference in China.
At the event, Sadr Azam Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Taliban, stated, “We have reduced poppy cultivation to zero, and if the world wants to eradicate poverty, it should start with Afghanistan and provide Afghan farmers with alternative crops.”
Additionally, the Taliban’s Deputy Minister of Mines and Petroleum urged the Chinese government to invest in Afghanistan’s mining sector. China has already begun extraction in several Afghan mines, including the Mes Aynak copper mine, and Chinese investors are evaluating other mines across various provinces.
The Taliban government’s appeals for foreign aid and investment continue, even as many economic institutions and international organizations left Afghanistan following the fall of the previous republic, and no country has yet formally recognized the Taliban government.
