Authority to Distribute Military Equipment Revoked from Taliban’s Interim Government Security Ministries

Bayan News – Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban’s interim government, announced that the authority to distribute weapons, ammunition, and military equipment has been removed from the Ministries of Defense, Interior, and the General Directorate of Intelligence.

On Friday (November 8), the Taliban spokesperson informed the media that this measure was implemented through an eight-point decree.

According to Mujahid, from now on, any distribution of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment will be conducted only under the direct order of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader.

Mujahid added, “From now on, to ensure the proper and safe use of weapons, any usage and distribution of weapons and ammunition will only occur by order of the (Taliban) leader.”

The eight-point decree from the Taliban leader has been circulated on social media. The first article states that no one can distribute or order the distribution of weapons, ammunition, scopes, radios, or other military equipment registered in the depots of the Ministry of Defense, Interior, the General Directorate of Intelligence, or other independent offices without his authorization.

In this decree, the Taliban leader has also instructed the Ministries of Defense, Interior, and the General Directorate of Intelligence to submit a list of military and non-military equipment to the asset control and registration section of his office, as requested by that section.
