Xi and Biden Discussed Managing U.S.-China Differences
Bayan News – The White House announced that U.S. President Joe Biden met with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, to discuss managing the differences between their two countries.
According to U.S. media reports, the White House stated on Saturday (November 16) that the leaders of the United States and China had clear discussions about regional and global issues, particularly expanding cooperation and managing areas of disagreement.
The White House emphasized that Biden highlighted the importance of keeping communication channels open between the U.S. and China to responsibly manage bilateral competition and expand areas of cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, the U.S. and Chinese leaders stressed the need to address risks associated with artificial intelligence, promote international cooperation to enhance its security, develop AI for the benefit of humanity, prevent nuclear weapons from being controlled by AI, and ensure the responsible development of this technology in military applications.
This meeting comes as Biden is set to leave the White House in two months, with Donald Trump, the U.S. President-elect, taking office.
During his election campaign, Biden had announced that if re-elected, he would impose a 60% tariff on Chinese goods entering U.S. markets.
