Armed Attack on Worshippers in Baghlan; UNAMA Condemns
Bayan News – The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), in response to the armed attack on worshippers in Baghlan, has called for the protection of religious minorities in the country.
On Saturday (November 23), UNAMA issued a statement on the X platform, stating: “UNAMA urges the Taliban to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, prevent future attacks, and ensure the security of the community.”
The UN body has strongly urged the Taliban government to prevent such incidents targeting religious minorities in Afghanistan.
UNAMA also highlighted that at least 10 people lost their lives in this armed attack, though some sources have reported 12 fatalities.
Two days ago, masked gunmen brutally opened fire on 12 individuals at the shrine of Sayyid Padshah, located in the old city of Nahrin district, Baghlan.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
