China Invites the Taliban to Participate in the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Neighboring Countries
Bayan News – Yu Xiaoyong, China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has invited Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, to attend the fifth meeting of foreign ministers of neighboring countries.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday (November 25) via a press release that the participation of Mr. Muttaqi in the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers of neighboring countries is deemed essential by China’s special representative.
The invitation for the Taliban delegation to attend the meeting of foreign ministers was discussed during a meeting between Muttaqi and Yu in Kabul.
The ministry further stated that the Chinese special representative and Muttaqi discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional matters.
Muttaqi described the Taliban’s relationship with China as positive and praised the progress in trade between the two sides.
The date for the meeting of foreign ministers of neighboring countries has not yet been announced, but it is set to be hosted by Turkmenistan.
During his trip to Turkmenistan, China’s special representative also met with the country’s deputy foreign minister to discuss preparations for hosting the fifth meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries.
