Turkey’s Interior Ministry Reports the Detention of 1,300 Undocumented Migrants
Bayan News – Ali Yerlikaya, Turkey’s Minister of Interior, announced on Monday (November 25) that 1,300 undocumented migrants have been detained.
The minister wrote on the X platform that these migrants were apprehended during joint operations conducted across the country.
He further noted that 43 individuals, including seven foreign nationals, have been arrested on charges of human trafficking during these operations.
The Turkish official emphasized that a joint operation named “Kalkan 31” was launched to identify undocumented migrants nationwide.
According to him, 18,835 locations, including abandoned buildings, were inspected by 28,000 security personnel as part of the operation.
The interior minister added that over 426,000 individuals were questioned during the operations.
He also stated that the detained migrants have been transferred to detention centers, and the deportation process has begun. However, the Turkish official did not provide details about the identities of those detained.
