The UN Security Council to Hold a Meeting on Afghanistan Tomorrow

Bayan News – The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting tomorrow, Thursday (December 12), focusing on Afghanistan.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has announced that Roza Otunbayeva, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, will address the situation in Afghanistan.

The Security Council meeting will commence at 7:30 PM local time in Afghanistan.

Although the agenda for the meeting has not been disclosed, it is expected that the humanitarian crisis and human rights situation in Afghanistan will be discussed.

This meeting is taking place amidst a backdrop where the interim government has recently prohibited women and girls from pursuing education in medical institutions in Afghanistan. Currently, no women or girls in the country have access to education.
