Bayan News – Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has stated that Israel intends to encircle Hezbollah in Lebanon using Syria as a pathway.
Speaking on Tuesday (December 17) at a gathering of women in Tehran, the Iranian leader said:
“The Zionist regime (Israel) imagines that it is preparing itself through Syria to encircle and uproot Hezbollah forces, but the one who will be uprooted is Israel.”
Referring to developments in Syria, Khamenei remarked that the United States and Israel believed the fight by militias affiliated with the Islamic Republic had ended, but according to him, this assumption is mistaken.
He asserted that the Islamic Republic would continue its support for Palestinian groups and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
However, with the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria, the Islamic Republic’s sphere of influence in the country has significantly diminished. At the same time, reports suggest that many Hezbollah forces remain trapped in Syria.
