Karzai calls for release of “Wesa” from Islamic Emirate

In a statement, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai called on the acting government to release Matiullah Wesa, a defender of girls’ education.
Karzai added in his statement that Rah-e Qalam has provided educational services in various provinces of Afghanistan in 2009 regarding access to girls and boys.
Stating that he is aware of Wesa’s educational activities, he called on the caretaker government to release him as soon as possible and to support the educational activities of Rah-e-Qalam as well as to free Wesa.
Kabul’s acting government officials confirmed the arrest of Matiullah wesa.
However, members of The wesa family said in video messages that two other members of the family were also arrested.
Visa’s detention has provoked national and international reactions.
