A group of Afghan women and girls have written a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, asking him to ensure that women’s representatives participate in the Doha meeting.

Razia Barakzai, a women’s rights activist, says in a video tape that the main purpose of sending this letter to the Secretary General of the United Nations and the representatives of the countries is to gain the support and attention of the nations in supporting the people of Afghanistan.

He added that the women and girls of Afghanistan aspire to establish social justice, freedom, gender equality, and achieve global security, and demands that nations come together to support each other’s legitimate demands.

According to Barakzai, in this letter, the people of the world, representatives of parliaments and international organizations are asked to refrain from any action that does not lead to the formalization of the current Kabul government, and instead stand by the people of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Institute of Women’s Working Group for Peace and Security has also asked the special representatives of the countries and especially the Secretary General of the United Nations that representatives of Afghan women and girls attend the Doha meeting.

According to this letter: “We want you to ensure that Afghan women, including women leaders, human rights defenders, peace builders and representatives of civil society, are at the table at the meeting of the special representatives on Afghanistan, which is scheduled to be held on May 1st. to be.”

This group has continued to emphasize that any decision made without the presence of women in the Doha meeting is illegitimate and will not be welcomed.

The United Nations has not said anything about the representation of Afghan women and girls at the Doha meeting.
