Ministry of Migrants: 80% of Aid Provided by Relief Organizations Goes to Waste
Bayan News – Khalil Rahman Haqqani, the acting head of the Ministry of Migrants and Returnees, claimed in his latest statements that 80% of humanitarian aid is wasted by relief organizations.
Mr. Haqqani made these remarks during a meeting with Daniel Andres, the coordinator of humanitarian assistance from the United Nations.
According to the acting head of the Ministry of Migrants and Returnees, only 20% of humanitarian aid reaches those in need and vulnerable individuals.
He expressed hope that the goals of his ministry and international relief organizations would focus on increasing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable individuals.
Haqqani said, “We have millions of Afghan migrants in various countries, and in addition to them, there are hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons who are all in need of humanitarian assistance. International organizations should strive to serve and provide assistance to those who deserve it.”
The head of this ministry called for the establishment of a mechanism to facilitate coordination and responsiveness with donors and international organizations regarding aid.
These statements come at a time when, according to published reports, international organizations have faced limitations in the process of providing assistance following the takeover by the Islamic Emirate.
