Guterres: Restrictions on the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan are concerning

Bayan News – Simultaneously with the two-year anniversary of the Islamic Emirate’s control over Afghanistan, United Nations officials strongly express concerns about severe restrictions on the rights of women and girls in the country.

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, stated in a tweet last night (August 15) that the situation in Afghanistan, particularly the restrictions on women and girls, appears deeply concerning.

According to Guterres, the international community should not let the people of Afghanistan be forgotten in this situation.

Yesterday, on August 15, which marked the second anniversary of the collapse of the Republic and the reestablishment of the Islamic Emirate’s rule over Afghanistan, widespread protests were held in various parts of the world against the current policies of Kabul.

Following the renewed rule of the Islamic Emirate, Afghan women and girls have been prohibited from their fundamental rights, including education, schooling, and working in domestic and international offices.

However, the interim government officials in Kabul also regarded August 15 as a day of victory and commemorated it throughout Afghanistan.
