Detention of Eight Women Protesters by Islamic Emirate Forces Denied
Bayan News – Officials from the Kabul Security Command have denied the detention of eight women protesters from the premises of a Kabul charity.
Khalid Zadran, the spokesperson for this command, wrote on social media today, Tuesday, August 21, that in recent days, such as the incident in the Khairkhana area of Kabul, no such events have occurred.
While considering this news unreliable, Zadran has requested all media outlets and journalists to prevent the dissemination of inaccurate news.
Last night, a video clip was circulated on social media that apparently showed Islamic Emirate forces detaining and taking away a number of women protesters from the Khairkhana square in Kabul.
Simultaneously, the Women’s Union and Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan announced that the detained women are members of this movement and intended to protest in a confined space.
Zahra Haqparast, an official of this movement, told several journalists that the women have been released on bail and have pledged not to engage in further protests.
