Fire in a Hotel in Iraq Claims 120 Lives

Bayan News – An Iraqi government official announced on Tuesday evening (September 26) that a fire at a wedding ceremony venue in the Al-Hamadaniya district of Nineveh province in northern Iraq has resulted in the death of 120 people and over 200 injuries.

According to Al Arabiya, preliminary information from the “Iraqi Civil Defense Force” indicates that the use of fireworks at the wedding ceremony caused the fire, which initially broke out inside the hall and then spread, leading to the collapse of parts of the building.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, the Prime Minister of Iraq, has requested that the ministers of interior and health make every effort to provide assistance to the victims of this incident.

Earlier, the Nineveh Health Directorate reported in its initial report that as a result of the fire at a wedding hall in Al-Hamadaniya, 100 people were killed and over 150 were injured.

The Iraqi Red Crescent also stated that the number of victims and injured in the wedding hall fire in the Hamdaniya area has risen to over 450. The fire occurred during the celebration of a wedding ceremony.

According to the report by the Iraqi Red Crescent, firefighting teams quickly rushed to contain the fire.

The Iraqi Civil Defense Force stated in its initial report that the use of fireworks at the wedding ceremony caused the fire to ignite inside the hall, which quickly spread and led to the collapse of parts of the building that were constructed using flammable and low-cost materials.
