The Iranian government has sentenced two female journalists to over 10 years in prison
Bayan News – According to reports from Iranian media, the Iranian judiciary has sentenced two female journalists to 12 years in prison for collaborating with the United States and participating in women’s protests in the country.
Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, reported today, Monday (October 22nd), that Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court in Iran has sentenced these two journalists to 12 years in prison on charges of collaborating with the US government, conspiracy to commit crimes against national security, and anti-regime propaganda activities.
Elaha Mohammadi, a journalist for the Mihan Iran newspaper, and Niloufar Hamedi, a journalist for the Sharq newspaper, are among the female journalists in Iran who have been sentenced to six years, seven years, and one year in prison, respectively.
These two journalists have 20 days to appeal against the verdict and request a reconsideration in the appeals court.
However, these two journalists have been in detention at Evin Prison in Iran for over a year.
